It's All Grace

Amazing things can happen when you allow the Lord to work in your life.

He Breathes with His Feet

Job 21:22  “Shall any teach God knowledge?  seeing he judgeth those that are on high.”

What breathes with its feet, has thousands of jaws but no mouth, has up to fifty arms, and an eye on the end of each arm?  NO, it’s not a new creature  for the next Star Wars movie.  It’s the Starfish.

When God designed the starfish, it almost seems as if He tried to see how differently HE could make this creature from all the others.  Depending upon the species, the starfish can have from 3 – 50 arms while there is an eye on the end of each one.  The rough skin of the starfish is covered with tiny jaws to keep parasites from attaching themselves to the starfish.  Even more amazing is the fact that each of these thousands of jaws work independently of the rest.  To get its oxygen, the starfish takes water in through tubes in its feet, each containing a tiny pump and a pipe system linking it to the other feet.

The starfish presents us with the lesson that our Creator did not have to make the creation in any specific way.  This is referred to by theologians as “voluntary creation.”  IF God had chosen to, you and I might be breathing through our feet — although I’m glad we don’t.  But the biblical truth of the voluntary creation was one of the crucial ideas that provided the basis for the modern scientific method.

Wasn’t It Smart Of God To:

Give us fevers so we will know when we are sick or in love.

Give us two eyebrows instead of one — and tweezers to help keep them that way!

Give us tongues so that when we talk we don’t “hown ike ikh”.

Make the human blood cell able to make a complete circuit of the body in about 60 seconds — guaranteeing that at least part of us is getting exercise!

Give us chiggers so that scratching feels good.

Peaceful Sleep

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
The human body’s need for sleep has always amazed me. God has designed us to literally turn off like a machine for eight hours or more each night. Science tells us sleep is something our bodies need to do. It is not an option. During our sleeping hours, some parts of the brain actually increase their activity dramatically, and certain hormones are produced by many of the body’s major organs and regulatory systems that continue to work.
Unfortunately, as a young homeschooling mom, I was missing out on my much needed sleep. I struggled with daily worries and anxious thoughts like “Will my children turn out okay if I homeschool? How can I teach a subject I don’t even know? How will we pay the bills if I homeschool?” Household chores were also keeping me up late into the night, and I was exhausted as I tried to do too much.
Then one night, I read a promise God seemed to write just to me: “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep” (Psalm 127:2). What an eye-opener! God only had so much for me to do each day, and what was left undone was not important. All He asked of me was to pray for wisdom to accomplish His perfect will each day. His provision to meet my unfinished tasks would come by sending extra help, inspiring new ways to organize, or miraculously providing whatever I needed.
After that day, my life changed. I was able to lay my head on my pillow each night and not worry about the basket of laundry waiting to be folded or the unfinished lesson plans for tomorrow’s schoolwork.
When was the last time you had a good night’s sleep? Do you struggle with trying to do more than God intended? Bringing your homeschooling worries to the Lord means trusting Him for wisdom and provision for all your needs. Will you rest in Him tonight and experience the peaceful sleep He intended? “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself” (Matthew 6:34a).

God is God

God can do what HE says HE can do . . . precisely because HE IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS . . . God cannot lie, nor be in the presence of sin.

God closes doors that NO ONE can open . . . and HE opens doors that NO ONE can close.  Why?  Because God is God, and I am not.  When we KNOW and UNDERSTAND the attributes of God, we find that not only can we trust HIM, but we can rest in knowing that HE is working everything together for our good and for HIS glory!

Many times God gets the greatest glory from our greatest sufferings, because it is THEN in those dark hours that we wave the white flag of surrender realizing that we cannot do it!  Surrendering is a sign of humility that ushers in HIS GRACE.

It is HIS grace that is sufficient to take us through every trial.  To get grace we must ask, acknowledging that we need help!  Humility and surrender brings you in close to God allowing you to sense HIS presence, know HIM intimately, hear HIS voice and walk WITH HIM.  The further away we get from God, the harder it is to hear HIS voice and KNOW HIS ways.

Do you KNOW God and believe that God is who HE SAYS HE IS?  If so, does your life reflect it?

The Finest Gold Is Tried In The Hottest Fire!

My mother would encourage me as a young girl by saying things like, “when you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hold on!”  However, understanding the spiritual side of things as an adult helped me to understand the depth of comments like that and to treasure the little “nuggets of truth” my mother gave me.

When we think of how hard our life is, may we reflect on what God wants to DO instead of questioning  “what HE is DOING”.  Know that God must really love you a lot to give you so much hard stuff to go through and that HE must be preparing you for something really great!  Something down the road that you don’t know is even coming.  Therefore, you would NEVER be prepared for it!  What a wreck!

The finer gold is tried in the hottest fire.  It takes 1400 + degrees to really refine gold and to make it pure.  GOLD is not made on the mountaintop where the breezes blow and roses smell so sweetly, yet IT IS IN the hottest fires that will change and shape your very being for the purpose HE created you to be.

I heard this saying just last night, “Why don’t you intend on being who God intended you to be”?  If you do, then you will accept the trials and the sufferings as nothing short of the Hand of God!

May your life be marked up by God’s fingerprints and may you be able TO SEE each one!  Look closely or you will miss them!  Seek HIM and you shall find HIM!

Is Your Mouth Full?

Is your mouth FULL?  Don’t look now Lord! I don’t want you to see me standing here with my big foot crammed in my mouth!

Don’t worry, child. If I didn’t love you just as much with your foot in your mouth, I’d hardly ever get a chance to love you!

Proverbs 13:3 “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life; but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction”.

Dry Eyes and Dry Hearts

The true man of God is heartsick, grieved at the worldliness of the Church, grieved at the blindness of the Church, grieved at the corruption in the Church, grieved at the toleration of sin in the Church, grieved at the prayerlessness in the Church. He is disturbed that the corporate prayer of the Church no longer pulls down the strongholds of the devil. When you see Christians in the church having adulterous relationships, in bondage to immorality, to pornography, to sexual sins and wrong relationships and it’s going on and they’re sitting in church as if it’s just nothing, does that break your heart? Does it grieve you? It’s not hard for us to cry, but are we crying over things that really matter? If our eyes are dry, could it be because our hearts are dry? You see, tears flow naturally from broken and contrite hearts.

Where Is Your Arena?

In Hebrews 11:1-24, all these people who had great faith, their arena was their home!  It’s more important to live by faith at home than it is at church!  Faith is what allows Gods people to know the truth.  If I am a person of faith at home, it is extremely impactful.  Don’t allow your godly heritage to stop with you!  It’s not about making our kids DO WHAT IS RIGHT, but making our kids WANT to do what is right.

Joshua chose WHOM his children would serve. When looking at a man or a pastor, examine what kind of kids he has and you can determine the FAITH & INTEGRITY of that man of God!  Evangelist Bill Rice III

Walking and Living By Faith

Have you ever wondered why it was so hard for the disciples to walk by faith?  They had walked with Christ (physically) first!  And then you wonder why it was so easy for the Apostle Paul to walk by faith?  He DIDN’T GET TO walk with Christ in the flesh.  Sometimes I think it’s harder for those of us who were born with hearing and vision, to do without and experience the loss, than those who were not born with those senses at all and have to live by faith.

What Do YOU Consider Pure?

Are you ok with things in your life being 99.9% pure?  If 99.9% pure was the standard, the IRS would lose over 2 million documents a year, 12 babies would be given to the wrong parents every day, 291 pacemaker surgeries a year would be performed wrong, and 20,000 prescriptions would be written every year incorrectly. What in your life, are you willing to settle for at 99.9%?
