It's All Grace

Amazing things can happen when you allow the Lord to work in your life.

99 Sheep or ONE?

In the story of the 99 sheep and one who left the flock, could it be that because God says to leave the 99 to go find the one, is because the 99 have been born again, and the ONE is lost?

Image

It’s almost odd to think we’d risk losing a whole flock of sheep just to find one who doesn’t want to stay.  Seeing it from that angle, changes things!  Do we care more about our lives, than we do souls?

Squirrel Harbor

IMG_5548

When things die, as well as come to life, it is a time of harvest!

Around here, we know that Fall has arrived when the acorns fall off the trees, hit our metal roof, and roll down bombing the deck!  As this event begins to unfold, it is an all day entourage of squirrel soldiers preparing for the harvest that has begun!

Are you sleeping through the events that are unfolding in this day and age?  Sleeping when there is work to be done is condemned, creates slothfulness and poverty.

“He that gathereth in summer is a wise son:  But he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame”.  Proverbs 10:5   When the harvest is gathered, many will be awakened and it will be too late!

As I hear these squirrels running and scampering up and down the deck, I am reminded of many things that are still yet to come.  Are you ready for the Lord’s return when He comes to gather up His children?  Are you ready for the judgment of God when you will stand before HIM to give an account of your life?

Are You Grazing?

What are you grazing on today?  If a horse eats too much of the wrong food, they will founder, messing up their hooves which greatly affects their walk and can cripple them!

If a Christian takes in too much bad food (the things of this world) it will greatly affect their walk and cripple them spiritually!  As Christians we have been given the “bread of life” to consume on a daily basis!  The better food we take in, the greater our walk becomes.

NO ONE has ever foundered from too much of the Word of God!   Barry Pearce Sr.

What’s Your Pace?

When I have to wait, God, or when YOU want me to move slowly, I don’t like it.

I don’t know which is worse, staying in my shell, or coming out and crawling at a snail’s pace.  Make me content to do whatever seems good to YOU, Lord.  Your pace spells PEACE.

Coal Miner’s Light

IMG_5489

God’s grace is like a coal miners light.

Imagine placing a coal miners light on top of your head and turning it on.  If you look down, where does the light go?  It lights the path where you will walk or stand.  Wherever your looking, your body will soon follow.

It gives all the light you need to see only where you are going and where you are standing.

*Standing – is a postures that denotes perseverance; we stand firm and safe, upheld by the power of the enemy.  And those who have hope for the glory of God hereafter, have enough to rejoice in now!

The miners light only lights the way.  It does not give light behind you or even to the side of you.  We only need grace for where we are standing and HIS grace is tailor made for every situation in our lives.

Romans 5:2  “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Is Pride Evident?

Is pride evident in your life?  Pride is NO small matter to God!  The only kind of people that can get close to God, are the humble.  When we refuse to humble ourselves – WE ARE PROUD!

You lift yourself up, God will bring you down. Count on it!

Proverbs 16:18  “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

When man defies God’s judgments, and think they are far from them, it is a sign they are at the door.  Let us not fear the pride of others, but fear pride in ourselves.

A Pig and A Pear Tree

Are you like a pig under a pear tree?

He is happy as long as the fruit falls.

The more he eats the closer he gets to the slaughter house.

He eats and eats, paying NO MIND to the source of the fruit he is taking in.

Are you taking in fruit that will eventually kill you, or are you taking in and bearing fruit that will change your life as well as others?

Psalm 68:19 “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation”.

Which tree are you eating from?

Suffering Shatters!

When suffering shatters the carefully kept vase that is our lives, God stoops to pick up the pieces.  But He doesn’t put us back together as a restoration project patterned after our former selves.  Instead He sifts through the rubble and selects some of the shards as raw material for another project – a mosaic that tells the story of redemption.

What Are You Housing?

THE wagon

God loves Roy Ratliff!  I love sharing our lives with you and all that the Lord allows us to be a part of.

One afternoon, as we passed Texanna Rd Fire Department, the kids yelled, “hey look!”  They saw something that DID NOT look like modern transportation!  A wagon with horses and a bearded man unharnessing his horses.  They wanted to stop and see, but I was on a mission to get Olivia to her piano lesson, while dropping Brady off at the ranch with dad on the way.

Barry and Brady drove back by the fire department on the way home and saw the wagon and horses, turned around and stopped to visit with the man for about an hour and took the opportunity to share the gospel of Christ.  His name was Roy and had been traveling this way for about the last 10 years and gone through 5 teams of horses exclaiming, “JUST CUZ he wanted to!

“Roy’s Stage Lines” houses a team of horses, 2 chickens, 1 dog, a solar panel for electricity, small flat screen tv, a laptop, a sock hanging on the wall to hold his “mouse”, 3 large barrels on the roof to hold his water, outdoor shower and an old seat bolted in the front for driving the team!  He explained to my husband as he opened up one of the feed drawers underneath, that about a week prior, one of his chickens were inside feasting, and much to his surprise, the opening of the drawer cut off the chickens head!  Oops!  The rear view of the wagon displayed approx 10-12 car tags.  Olivia noticed a sign on the front of the wagon that said, “redneck wind sock” that was screwed to an old white sock.  What a unique collection for all to SEE!

I had to ask myself, that just as this mans wagon was his home and a picture of what was important to him, how much more does what I possess, how I chose to live my life and what I allow others to SEE, affect the Kingdom of God?

During my family’s visit with Roy, he said he wasn’t a “religious” man, just an old country boy that doesn’t know nothing! Barry shared his testimony, his life and about his dads salvation (who was just another old country boy who didn’t “know nothing”), etc. and left him with information to seek out the scriptures.  Roy DID SAY that he had a Bible he reads every night!

The next morning we were headed out to a funeral and the kids wanted to stop and say “good-bye”.  Roy gave the kids a shirt and a cap with his name on it!

I just LOVE the things God allows into our lives for HIS GOOD PLEASURE!

Please pray for Roy Ratliff and his salvation, as God loves him too!

It’s All Grace!

IMG_2147

As I reflect back over the ones who’ve had the greatest impact on my life, I remember my precious Grandma Grace.  Her life began to make the greatest difference AFTER she died.  It was THEN that I realized JUST HOW MUCH she loved the Lord.  Not only did I see HIM in the things she did and said each day, but moreso in the things she DID NOT SAY, OR COULD HAVE SAID.

Grandma Grace set up a memorial stone for me and the generations to come.  Joshua 4 explains exactly what she did for me!  I know the Lord “was well pleased with HIS good and faithful servant”.

Soon after she died, I begged God to make me 1/2 the woman my Grandma was.  Through that request HE began to turn up the heat.  Life seemed more difficult than it had ever been. What The Lord showed me through my trials, was that my Grandma didn’t get to where she was by traveling the easy road, yet it was the difficulties that REFINED her AND made her to look more like HIM.

I had asked my dad about my Grandma Grace (his mother-in-law) and how she affected his life.  After he told me that it was my grandma who led him to Christ, he said this thought provoking statement that I have never forgotten.  “When you met Grace . . . you never forgot her.”  I realized that this is exactly how it is with God’s grace.  His grace has grown more precious to me each passing day on this journey.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:  for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”  II Corinthians 12:9

So, when you’re struggling and going through adversities, remember that what you’ve asked God for sometimes may not look like the way YOU THOUGHT it ought to look.  My Grandmothers life AND death were significant in my walk with Christ.  Her legacy lives on!

Does your life honor God in such a way, that you would never be forgotten?  What kind of Memorial Stones are you leaving behind for others to learn from?
