It's All Grace

Amazing things can happen when you allow the Lord to work in your life.

Quit Numbing it

God wants us to walk into the pain…instead of numbing it.

What are you using in excess?  Shopping, tv, movies, food, alcohol , RX drugs, sleep, computers, your job, men, women, music, busyness, etc.

Whatever you are  using to numb the pain is dulling the senses and your sensitivity to God?  You cannot help others when you are enslaved and in bondage!

Let go of and walk away from what has a hold on you, and walk into what is difficult.  When we deal with the difficulty head on, there is freedom and a peace that comes only from the Lord.

The Other Side of “No”

At times, it can seem as though some prayers never get answered.  Yet, God is going to answer our prayers in a way that will glorify HIM the most!

When a prayer is answered with a “no”, there is always something to be learned.  The other side of “no” is where we begin to see God’s greater purpose.  Sometimes the “no’s” are to let us see what is really in our hearts.  Deuteronomy 8:2

What have you prayed for that has been answered with a “no”?  Look beyond the “no” and see what the Lord has said yes to!

Sinking Ship

Are you out in the boat today?  Not sure of stepping out of the boat or whether the storm will take you under?  Do you feel like you’re on a sinking ship?

Remember that NO ship can go down with the Master on board!  Lay your doubt aside and step into the Father’s Will.

Take A Stand

It is EASY to stand up and teach what is right, yet it is HARD to stand up against what is wrong.

Standing up for what is right, is not all that is required of us .  We must stand against what is wrong!

Will you be a Christian that makes a difference to a lost world, by what you teach and the stand you will take?  Or will you waiver and falter in denial as Peter did when he denied knowing Christ?

Mrs. Clean

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13.

Inside the house, the kitchen sink was full of dishes, and the laundry baskets were piled high with dirty clothes. The floors were full of crumbs, and the windows had enough fingerprints to fill the files of the FBI. Outside, the lawn looked like a herd of horses needed to chew it down, and the children’s toys were scattered from one end of the farm to the other. Company was scheduled to arrive for supper, and the meal was not yet prepared. I laughed to myself, wondering which of these tasks I would actually accomplish in addition to our homeschooling day.

Thinking about all the work made me tired and unable to even know where to start. Looking to God, I felt Him gently urge me to begin. I did, and somehow a miracle began. The day became supernatural, and I literally felt like angels were working with me to get every job accomplished. There were no interruptions, no accidents, and no fights. Nothing was lost, and nothing broke. I flew from one chore to the next, while keeping an enthusiastic smile and teaching my children their lessons. I couldn’t believe the amount of work I accomplished that day, and I’ve never had another one quite like it.

Sometimes the numerous issues in our spiritual walk also seem daunting. We wonder how a family member will ever be saved, why we keep falling into the same old sins, and if we can ever forgive other’s thoughtless remarks. Temptations and trials attempt to render us impotent. We become discouraged and give up in despair before we ever begin to live for the Lord. You don’t need to live under the weight of sin and pain. God sent His Son, Jesus, to deliver us from a defeated life. Jesus arose and left an empty grave as proof that we have access to the same mighty power that raised Him from the dead (Ephesians 1:19). All your burdens can be lifted by the miracle of His grace.

Is life too heavy to bear right now? Jesus says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28.

Give it ALL to HIM and watch HIM do it through you.

4,000 Opportunities

What the Lord wants with our lives, is for us to “spend” it well.

If HE were to give you a $1,000 dollar bill – instead of depositing it into your account or giving it back to HIM, HE wants you to take it to the bank and exchange it for quarters, giving you 4,000 opportunities (instead of one) to be Christ to others!

How many opportunities have you been given and how many will you take?

Are You Having An Affair?

The kind that is unbreakable, indescribable, one that brings you great joy in your daily life that you have to talk about it all day long, one that makes you complete, one that you would DIE to maintain, one that captivates ALL YOU ARE, and one that would cause you to daydream instead of doing your daily tasks?
If you are having a love affair with God’s Word, what kind of evidence would there be for you to be convicted?  You would have to be seen IN THE WORD on more than random occasions, you would have to be found talking about it excessively, you would demonstrate a joy that radiates within, you would respond to trials and difficulties with rejoicing and giving thanks.  You would be eager to love the unlovable, tend to the needy, give of yourself always and living daily as a servant!  WOW.
As a child of God, we should be IN LOVE with THE WORD OF GOD.  Why do we neglect “that” which is so easily attained?  How are we to KNOW what we are called to, if we are not IN The Word?  The Word enables me to avoid sin by the power and the grace of God.  It allows me to have guidance into what HE has for me.  It is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.  We wonder “why” we struggle with “where we are called”.  Because of the Word of God, I can know HOW to stand against the enemy, where to walk, how to live, how to trust in THE GOD I SERVE AND LOVE.
Lord, may I be found “GUILTY” when charged of “having a love affair” with Your Word, and there would be enough evidence to convict me!

Difficult Things

When things are difficult in life, we tend to assume that something’s wrong that needs to be fixed. However, just the contrary.  God uses the difficult things that need to be fixed in our lives in order that we may reflect the attributes of Christ.

Taking Shortcuts

“Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” Ephesians 4:13.

Life is full of shortcuts. High-priced technology has changed the way we live and made shopping so easy we can get what we want with a simple click of a mouse or a wave of a debit card. Although technological advances have also made homeschooling easier, there is one aspect to teaching our children at home that can’t be fast forwarded — your children’s spiritual growth. Developing biblical values and godly character requires a daily, concentrated effort in building God’s truths precept upon precept. Money simply cannot buy instant access to Christianity or purchase shortcuts in learning God’s lessons in humility, obedience, and submission.

Trying to fast track Christianity has been a problem since the Lord returned to heaven. In Acts 8:13-24, Simon, the ex-magician, thought he could bypass the disciplines of being trained in righteousness. Wanting to impress the crowds and perform miracles like Peter, Simon offered money to find a shortcut to the Holy Spirit’s power. Rebuking him for his fleshly attempts to control God, Peter said, “Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God” (Acts 8:20b-21).

What about you? Are you guilty of looking for shortcuts in your spiritual growth? Quick prayers and short devotionals are not enough. Spend time alone with the Lord today in prayer and Bible study and let the Holy Spirit reveal those changes that need to take place in your life. “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection” (Hebrews 6:1a).

Lord, forgive me for being like a child and looking for the easy way out of Your lessons. Help me to walk with You today and not run ahead of the disciplines that teach me Your truths. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Peace is 18 Inches Away

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”.  Philippians 4:7

Just yesterday, our family received word that some missionary friend’s 7-year-old son had been taken to the hospital with Malaria.  Just a few hours later came more news that their 8-year-old daughter was now in the hospital as well, with Malaria.  As these two children were showing signs of recovery, their 3-year-old son was vomiting with fever and in the hospital this morning.

How does one get through something like this?  There are those that would be angry at God and demand better treatment “as they ARE doing the work of the Lord”!  This mindset comes from a twisted belief that “it’s all about us” or “God owes me”.  However, this family is quite the contrary and will bring God glory trusting HIM through it all.

As a mom, I couldn’t begin to fathom this type of adversity, nor the magnitude in just a few short hours.  But because I know the Lord and HIS character, HIS grace would be sufficient and HIS love and peace would sustain me for whatever HE would allow me to go through.  I immediately began to pray and put myself in these parent’s shoes!  What would I want, desire, or need during these difficult hours?  The closeness of God?  His grace?  Strength and Comfort?  To sense HIS presence and feel HIS arms engulfing me?  All of the above!

God gives peace and protection in our hearts and in our minds.  God will guard these two parts, that remain 18 inches apart, which seem to conspire against us.  If our hearts are troubled, it won’t be long before our minds will be in turmoil.  If our thoughts are headed in the wrong direction, our hearts will soon follow.  But God’s peace can guard both heart and mind no matter what we are facing.

Today, there are Christians all over the world, going through unbelievable things with God’s peace.  Their assurance in the face of evil and pain is a testimony that brings glory to God, for it is clear to those watching, that something which passeth all understanding is going on.  These Christians are getting supernatural help, as did Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego while in the furnace, walking around.

Can you imagine those three Jewish men standing near a roaring furnace, KNOWING they were about to be fed to the flames (Daniel 3:8-30)?  The weren’t sure they wouldn’t die.  Their peace came from being sure that no matter what happened, God would deliver them.

Peace is easy to understand when everything is going well, but not so easy when circumstances get hard.  God’s peace is always available, and HE wants us to rest in it — especially in season’s of darkness and difficulty.

Remember, you don’t get to choose your furnaces.  But you can choose to live rejoicing in the Lord.  You can choose to get along with others and practice anxiety-free days as you turn everything over to God with thanksgiving, even if you don’t fully understand how to go through challenges with a calm, quiet confidence, this will not prohibit God’s ability to give you the gift of peace.

What is your belief about God?

Anything and everything that happens to you must FIRST be filtered through God’s Hand.  All that HE allows is for your greater good and His glory!
